THIS IS DOC BUTLER.

The son of a funeral director and a record dealer, Doc Butler originates from the tiny village of Feckenham in Worcestershire. He now predominately acts, and plays James Woodgate in Coronation Street.

He has appeared in film, stage, radio and television. He can be seen playing various characters in Clarke Cable’s Film Review Report and as Nials H in Nurses Who Kill on UKTV. Leading film credits include The Vengermader in award nominated Folklore’s Intimates, Mank in Portabello Road Film Festival finalist Taste and Gordon LeRotter in award winning In The Bin. Doc has also done a lot of work with his brother Oobah for VICE including playing Chris on Eggheads on BBC2 and was involved in the now famous The Shed At Dulwich prank.

Doc has played many roles in the world of theatre and began his professional career by playing Kieran in the UK debut of American dark comedy The Irish Curse by Martin Casella. Other theatre roles include; Damis in Tartuffe with Handplay productions, John Bold in The Warden with Traffic Of The Stage and Lysander in Midsummer Night’s Dream with No Loss productions. He also has a wealth of experience in live comedy and improv.

Doc is also known for voice-work for animation, radio and voiceover. He appeared recently in BBC4 drama Quicksand.

Doc is an award winning writer, director and is an accomplished singer (being classically trained from youth to adulthood). He has professional experience in all three disciplines.

For the last few years Doc has been producing various series, films and music videos with Little Balloon productions. This is a collective of like-minded comedians, actors, filmmakers and brothers creating unique dark comedies tailored to their taste.

For the most part, Doc is a character actor. Giving deep and sensitive performances mainly within the realms of dark comedy and drama. Although he has no formal training, he has explored and adventured this planet as much as he has studied the people that inhabit it, giving him a broad scope of reference. His fascination and love for the diversity in the world is expressed truthfully through the filter that is his creative guise.
