PRIMATE is an ongoing comic book series written by James Butler & Ewart Jones, and illustrated by Michael Evans. It centres around the temperate drifter Jon Llewelyn, who is accidentally transformed into a huge powerful beast. He spends his latter days not only fighting his adversaries, but his tarnished conscience too.

SYNOPSIS

Welsh record dealer Jon Llewelyn wants to be a good guy. It just takes so much effort and swims against the stream of inherent human selfishness. When tragedy shatters Jon’s comfortable existence, he seeks solace by backpacking across the globe. During a visit to Japan he stumbles into an ongoing ancient clan war and becomes imbued with the blood of the greatest warriors of the Blue Moon Clan. This blood transforms him into PRIMATE; an apelike beast with the ears of a bunny and the temperament of a wild boar.

Whilst seeking personal redemption, PRIMATE is faced with both the prospect of finding a cure for his new, unwanted form and reluctantly battling the arcane forces of the Red Moon Clan. These self-imposed guardians of the earth want his power and quite literally, his blood. With the aid of some newfound friends and a mentor he never wanted – and can’t get rid of – PRIMATE now has to face the world’s greatest force of nature.
